Simon A. Steel Simon Steel practices in the areas of appellate and complex litigation, antitrust, intellectual property litigation and federal regulation. He is a former law clerk to Justices O'Connor (on the United States Supreme Court) and Breyer (on the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit), and has worked on numerous Supreme Court matters. Since joining Harkins Cunningham LLP in 2002, he has developed a particular focus on the complex jurisdictional, constitutional and strategic issues presented by overlapping federal and state class actions. He also has substantial litigation and policy experience in constitutional law, energy and environmental law, and bankruptcy law, and at the intersection of antitrust and intellectual property. Immediately before joining the firm, Mr. Steel served for three years in the Chairman's Office at the Federal Trade Commission as Special Counsel for Global Competition. Earlier in his career, he was a barrister in England, and an associate at Sidley Austin and Simpson Thacher & Bartlett.
