A business/tax lawyer, Carl Kaseman has advised and represented corporations, partnerships and other organizations in many contexts involving strategic opportunities, economic regulation, novel tax and business problems, and large financial transactions. He has helped plan and negotiate mergers, acquisitions, financings of nearly every type, joint ventures, partnerships and ESOPs, as well as spin-offs, tax-free exchanges and other asset dispositions. He has assisted clients in lobbying Congress and the Executive Branch. In addition, he has managed large-case tax controversies (including related litigation) for major corporations and tax-exempt organizations, as well as smaller companies and partnerships.

Mr. Kaseman also has represented clients in various kinds of leasing and project finance transactions and has served as chair of the American Bar Association Tax Section's Committee on Capital Recovery and Leasing. His experience includes advising clients regarding new financial strategies and products, as well as the structuring of intercompany operating and investment relationships. Mr. Kaseman served as articles editor of The Tax Lawyer for four years. He is listed in current editions of Who's Who in America and The Best Lawyers in America.

Mr. Kaseman graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1971, and served as Editor of the University of Pennsylvania Law Review. He graduated cum laude from Ohio State University in 1968, with distinction in Political Science. He is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and is a member of the Bar of the United States Tax Court.

Prior to joining Harkins Cunningham LLP as a founding partner, Mr. Kaseman was a partner of Pepper Hamilton LLP from 1978 to 1983, and from 1991 to 1992. Between 1983 and 1991, he was a partner of Piper & Marbury, where he served as chairman of that firm's tax department and as managing partner of its Washington office. He held the position of senior tax and finance counsel at Consolidated Rail Corporation from 1976 to 1978. He was an associate at Pepper Hamilton LLP from 1971 to 1976. Mr. Kaseman is also a former United States Marine (1961-1965).
