Frank Newell is an accomplished litigator with broad-based experience handling complex and class action litigation, including antitrust, securities fraud, product liability, intellectual property, regulatory and criminal matters. He has successfully represented leading companies in the airline, banking, automobile manufacturing, environmental, mineral, franchising, paper and linerboard manufacturing, pharmaceutical, computer manufacturing and software licensing, carpet manufacturing and health care industries, among others.

In addition to litigating in the federal and state courts, at both the trial and appellate levels, Mr. Newell is frequently called upon to provide antitrust counseling in a variety of contexts and has served as special antitrust counsel to the Philadelphia Bar Association's board of governors. He also conducts internal corporate investigations, negotiates on his clients' behalf with federal and state regulatory agencies, and advises companies and individuals who are subject to grand jury investigations.

Mr. Newell has been recognized by his peers as one of America's premier litigators, appearing in Woodward/White Inc., The Best Lawyers in America; in Chambers & Partners, Chambers USA—America's Leading Business Lawyers; and as one of Pennsylvania's Super Lawyers® in Law & Politics' Pennsylvania Super Lawyers publication. He recently served on the transition team of Pennsylvania's attorney general. He is chairman of the Local Rules Advisory Committee of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, is a member of the Civil Justice Reform Act Advisory Group of that Court, is vice president and a member of the board of directors of the Historical Society of that Court, and is a past chairman of the Federal Courts Committee. Mr. Newell also has been very active in the Pennsylvania and Philadelphia Bar Associations where he has taken numerous leadership roles, and is president of the Brehon Law Society. He is a founding member and member of the board of directors of the Philadelphia Police Foundation. Also, he serves on the board of trustees of the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Newell was a Trial Attorney in the Honors Program of the Antitrust Division of the United States Department of Justice in Washington, D.C. In that capacity, he participated in all facets of the Department's criminal and civil antitrust enforcement policies and received an Outstanding Performance Award from the Attorney General of the United States.

Mr. Newell received his J.D. from the Villanova University School of Law in 1975, where he was a member of the editorial board and a Casenote & Comment Editor of the Villanova Law Review. In 1972, Mr. Newell received his B.S. degree, with honors, from the Pennsylvania State University and was named to the national scholastic honor society, Beta Gamma Sigma. Mr. Newell is admitted to practice in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and in the District of Columbia. He is a member of the Bars of the United States Supreme Court, the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, Fourth Circuit and District of Columbia Circuit, the United States District Courts for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania and District of Columbia. He is a member of the Antitrust, Criminal, International and Litigation sections of the American Bar Association; the Antitrust, Trade Regulation and Litigation sections of the District of Columbia Bar Association; and the Litigation section of the Pennsylvania Bar Association.
