Marianne Consentino concentrates her practice in complex commercial litigation, including class actions, and in appellate practice. She formerly practiced at Debevoise & Plimpton in New York, where she played a lead role in the defense of nationwide life insurance sales practice class actions for a number of major insurance companies. She also has extensive experience defending securities fraud actions, litigating commercial contract disputes and counseling companies and directors about their obligations under federal and state law. Ms. Consentino is committed to the provision of legal services to the poor and has represented indigent clients in both civil and criminal cases including, for example, a death row prisoner in a federal habeas case that was ultimately decided by the United States Supreme Court.
Ms. Consentino graduated from Princeton University (A.B., cum laude, 1980) and from New York University School of Law (J.D. 1987), where she was Editor in Chief of the Law Review and received a Moot Court Advocacy Award. She clerked for the Honorable Amalya L. Kearse in the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit (1987-88). Ms. Consentino is a member of the bars of Pennsylvania and New York as well as the Bars of the United States Courts of Appeals for the Third and Fourth Circuits and the United States District Courts for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania and for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York. She is a member of the American Bar Association, the Pennsylvania Bar Association, the Philadelphia Bar Association and the Association of the Bar of the City of New York.
